As the world is gradually emerging from the crisis, this is where Azom with their services and their grasp on bringing new components from global to Indian market needs to be appreciated.

My primary workloads revolve around AI/ML. With the shift in work culture towards work from home, I was looking for a true desktop replacement with no compromise on performance.

Build Log -

BAREBONE: X170-KM
CPU: Intel i7-11700K
GPU: Nvidia 3080 16GB
RAM: 32GB (1 x 32GB) DDR4 3200 MHz
SSD: 1TB NVMe Gen 4x4

The build or the case is no longer a version of plastic but a Magnesium alloy with Matte finish giving the system a premium look with an amazing cooling system. Haven't seen GPU temps cross 70C in any of my workloads and there were times where my system was running for 3 days plus on training models.

It clearly outperforms my desktop which is only one gen behind in terms of specs. That's something which I haven't seen in traditional laptop performance matrix.

Moreover, the pricing & configurations with quality and performance when compared to branded ones doesn't do justice for what Azom delivers.

I have already recommended them to my peer groups and would request everyone to give them a go. " - Aditya S

Finally I decided to go with the build they recommended. My workloads revolve around coding and AAA Gaming.

Coming to the laptop performance, the best ones about this are the thermals. They do tune the system , but you can push the system further if you know a bit on overclocking and clocks and v-core management.

Have tested multiple games on it now. No frame drops, no crazy high temps. The fans go to max in between and then quite down very much for most of the amount of time.

I have really tried pushing it to its limits and the Legion doesn’t seem to make any fuss about it and has stood it's test of time. In aspects of my day to day workloads the machine performs just uber smooth.

" I am a game developer by profession. My core workloads revolve around Unity, Unreal, character design using Maya, ZBrush and similar software. Free time goes for hardcore gaming.

The first system system I got from Azom was the Legion V3 and since then I have been a fanboy of their builds.

The best thing I like about the system was the performance it can dish out compared to branded units I have used. Hello Alienware, I am looking at you! 😉

These guys really know the art of tuning their rigs, that too without any bloatware.

Quick Review Points -

Before I went for Legion, I was using an Alienware. It was a good unit , but there was a substantial performance difference between same series GPU on my desktop compared to the laptop.

With Legion , the GPU performance between my Laptop and Desktop was almost identical. I don't know how they do it, but that's just mind blowing. Also , they use custom Prema BIOS which has lot of options to tweak. I am yet to figure out what most of those options do in BIOS. 😂

They use Desktop Grade CPUs which follow the same plug and play design of a desktop board. The CPU can be pushed up to 95W, where as the mobile CPUs which comes in laptops have official TDP of 45-55 W.

Thermals are really good and I didn't even open the system for cleaning or thermal re-paste for 3 years. Till this time never faced throttling or overheating issue. It was after 3 years when i faced a bit of throttling and got the system cleaned up along with thermal paste change.

Customization options are the best in class. I can customize the Display, GPU, CPU, Ram & Storage. This includes future upgrades if required.

Price vs Performance. Legion V3 was more cost effective than my Alienware and dished out almost 3 times more performance on my workloads.

Lastly, what I love about Azom is their sales & support. When I reached out to Azom for recommendations, they never oversell. Their recommendations were spot on and in fact I didn't even opt for their top tier config.

This made all the difference for me.

Recently, I switched company and was given the option to go for a laptop of my choice. I went with Legion V4.

I can't stop recommending Azom. I have already recommended it to so many people." - Nikhil

"I have now bought three systems from Azom, but never written a review. Its probably time to change that.

The first system I bought was an Exigo around 6 years ago, it worked flawlessly under heavy stressful work loads for 3 years, till I decided to get an upgrade and get the 17" Legion V3. That also worked great till I decided to get the Legion V4. The systems have been flawless, putting out great performance and reliability; which is now a days missing from branded offerings.

For high performance compute, current branded mobility offerings are at least 1.3X times more expensive than Azom's offerings and that too comes with soldered mobile CPU & Max-Q GPU. Where as Azom offers desktop grade CPUs & MXM GPUs with modular socket format which allows for easy upgrades and replacements.

The major decision when buying this kind of pricey equipment is support. So how has been the support? In one word excellent.

Whenever I have had an issue all I had to do was call Arindam or mail the Azom Support Team and I will get the required help promptly. For example, my first Legion (my second system from Azom) was having heating issues after 1 year, I called up Arindam and dropped off the laptop, everything was fixed and the laptop delivered to me on time. This kind of service is impossible to get in the Indian Market.

On the latest Legion (v4) , Clevo (OEM behind Azom) decided to go with the Insyde Bios which is abysmal, and I had real trouble installing Linux there. Called up Arindam and he helped me come up with the steps to install Linux and even emailed them over to me. This kind of support you won’t get from most of the branded options in the market.

Legion V4

To sum up here are the Pros -

•	Brilliant performance, best in its class and Legion has better performance than Alienware Area 51m or others while costing less.

•	Great support

•	Good warranty coverage, when buying try to get warranty coverage for 2 or 3 years (1 year is provided by default)

•	Laptop screens are great

•	Azom is Prema Partner. In general they provide Prema Bios , they haven’t done it yet for the latest Legion because its not available. Clevo laptop with Prema >>>> Clevo laptop without Prema. Period!

•	Great for doing Machine learning stuff. The new Legion V4 contains the RTX 3080 with 16gb, while many other laptops also contain the same GPU, most of them are gimped and not able to sustain the clocks under heavy load. The Legion V4 is anything but that. On full loads the GPU consumes around 175W and can sustain the clocks for a long time.

Cons-

•	Azom Systems are getting pricier, the gap between Azom and bigger brands like Dell or MSI was much more around 5 years back than it is now. Don’t get me wrong. Its still there, but while previously the difference was around 50% now it has dropped down to 20-30%. To be fair this is primarily due to OEMs hiking their rates but still a trend which I noticed.

•	Legion V4 is heavy, not great for travelling. I generally prefer to travel with an old HP Zbook. But hey, you are buying a desktop replacement here. On the same note battery backup is not that great, Battery is more like a UPS for the desktop.

If you need a mobility + performance unit; check out their Exigo line up which is on a 15.6" platform.

To conclude the review have been a long time customer of Azom and their product lines have always delivered the performance promised. They have created a niche in the Indian market with a vey optimized price vs. performance offering in high performance mobility segment. My best wishes to Azom and hope to seem them grow!" - Amit

Evolution of Exigo

Our core ideology behind Exigo was to bring desktop grade performance on a mobile chassis along with component customization with plug and play format; very similar to a modern high end desktop.

Instead of a true desktop replacement , Exigo was designed to be somewhere in between a traditional slim laptop vis a vis a DTR with more focus on mobility retaining a 15" chassis.

Our first few iterations did achieve that goal , with positive end user feedback on performance side of things, however one key suggestion which was highlighted by majority of user base was the weight.

Exigo V1, V2 & V3 weighed around 3.8 KGs including the barebone , battery & PSU.

The next iteration - V4, housed a new design where the total weight was brought down to 2.6KGs. One key design change was now GPUs were soldered on board to achieve the target weight range. Rest all the components retained the plug and play format of previous iterations.

V6 continues the same chassis design trend with few adjustments to heat sink design for better heat dissipation bringing the total system weight to 2.8KGs including the barebone, battery & PSU.

As an end note, the Exigo v6 hits the right notes on our end goal of a mobile platform with desktop grade components with focus on mobility.
